Day One

This blog isn't a sales pitch. My goal isn't to sell you anything or tell you anything you can't look up on the internet or read in a fitness mag. The reason behind this blog is to share my personal knowledge and expertise in the world of exercise, science and nutrition. Granted, I am not a licensed professional, but that's only because I refuse to shell out the money to say I am. Hence the blog.

In the decades of experience, I've always been able to get around the stupid certifications. I have my bachelor's degree in Exercise Sport Science with a concentration in Physical Fitness and Activity. I took every science in the book, you name it, I took it. You get it- I'm educated. But more importantly, I'm experience in fitness. I'm a tomboy that played sports and ran track at a division 1 University for 4 years. I competed post collegiately running against (and beating) elite athletes in races all over, while working full time. I've battled injuries, strength trained, coached athletes, personal trained regular Joe's and Jane's AND military guys and gals at Quantico's gym. I have nothing to prove, you can google me to look up my times if you're curious.

The second reason I'm doing this blog is because I know there are people out there looking for a support system to get in shape. To overcome an injury, to be healthy again, or to eat right and feel good. The more you workout, the better you will treat your body. You'll eat healthier, you'll look better (obviously), your energy level will increase and your mood will enhance. The quality of your life will increasingly grow as you continue to workout. It's just a matter of making yourself workout and sticking to it!

Since this is Day 1 and I do have my day job, I'm stopping here. This is my intro. I plan to get into fitness advice my next blog. My goal is blog at least once a week. Consider book marking me and checking back. My first topic will be geared toward running...since that is my true passion in life you'll notice a heavy emphasis in that particular area.

A tip for the road...
If you wanna get faster, do hills. Hills are speed work in disguise.
(more details about this kind of workout are in future blogs)

Happy running,
J
